Alton "Gene" Lumpkin, age 74, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Monday, June 21, 2021. He was born March 14, 1947. He was preceded in death by his son, Allen Scott Lumpkin; parents, Alton Gene and Bertha Crider Lumpkin; brother, Sammy Lumpkin; granddaughter, Alica Cochran. He is survived by his wife Barbara Hensley Lumpkin of Dalton, GA; son, Stephen Lumpkin of Resaca, GA; daughter, Vicki Hester of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, David and Lorine Lumpkin; brother, Dwight Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Johnny Hawkins of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Adam, Brittany, Noah, Elise and Joseph great grandchildren, Ava, Ansley, Aiden, Koley, Skyla and Ariah. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Alton "Gene" Lumpkin will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Dalton Funeral Home.
