Harlan Kendrick

Mr. Harlan Kendrick, age 49, of Chatsworth, Georgia passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022. He was born on September 11, 1972. He is preceded in death by his father, Roy B. W. Kendrick; grandparents, Dollie and France Kendrick, Willie and Mary McGill; and his most beloved son in law, Brandon Garrison, all of Chatsworth, GA. He is survived by his mother, Gerelene “McGill” Kendrick of Chatsworth; son, Stephen M. Kendrick of Chatsworth; daughter, Breanna L. Garrison of Chatsworth; brothers, Larry and Penny Kendrick of Cleveland, TN and Billy Kendrick of Cleveland, TN; sister, Mary Davis and Randell Dillard of Etowah, TN; grandchildren, Anslee, Kaelyn, Mason, and Liam of Chatsworth; 7 nieces; 4 nephews; 12 great nephews; 6 great nieces; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins all of Whitfield County and/or Murray County areas of GA Harlan was a very giving person and was notorious for helping anyone in need. It wasn’t just his family, but anyone he saw that he thought he could help, he would. From small things such as: boosting off a stranger’s car at the store to hauling back pallets of food from California on his tractor trailer that he paid out of his own pocket and donated to the local food bank. At Christmas time, he would always buy extra gifts for boys and girls and wrap them in either pink or blue wrapping paper with his 2 kids and take them to underserved areas of the community to be given out. When someone in the community would have financial hardship due to no fault of their own, Harlan would be there to offer assistance financially or donate his time. Harlan was a hard worker all of his life. During his lifetime, he owned 3 resale shops in the Murray County area. He would be constantly looking for the next deal- either at an estate sale, flea market, or word of mouth. Harlan would collect various items in bulk for resale. Everyone knew him at the flea market where he always had an open table. Harlan would find the time and help all of the nieces and nephews throughout his life. Harlan was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Harlan worked over 20 years as a truck driver, in which several years he did long haul in teams. His various partners in team driving can testify to his generosity, not just in the east coast, but the west coast as well. Harlan bought all the chicken KFC had left near a homeless community in California and then distributed it free of charge to that community. Our hearts are broken at sharing the news of the sudden passing of our beloved father, brother, and son. Our words cannot do justice to the love he showed us all. He was a hard worker, a business owner, and most importantly to him, he was a father and pawpaw. Harlan was often a man of few words. He did most of his talking through his actions and caring for those around him. He loved us all with everything he had. We are so proud of the man he was and immeasurably grateful for his presence in our lives. While we wish he didn’t have to leave us, we take solace in knowing he has entered the presence of our Heavenly Father and a joyful reunion with loved ones gone before. We are all the better for having known him. He was a biological father of 2 children, but is beloved by many. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Harlan Kendrick will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Edwin Puckett and Pastor Tracy Baker officiating. Interment will be at Center Valley Cemetery in Chatsworth. Pallbearers are Larry Kendrick, Billy Kendrick, Stephen Kendrick, Brandon Arnold, Randell Dillard, and Josh Flavaham. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Dalton Funeral Home.
