Mary Kathryn Porter Hicks, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton Georgia. Ms. Hicks was born on February 25, 1949 in Dalton GA.  She was the youngest child of 12 to the late William and Gertie Romines Porter of Dalton.  Ms. Hicks greatly loved her church and her family. Ms. Hicks is preceded in death by a daughter, Leisa Hicks Kyle of Dalton; sisters, Lillian Edwards, Rose Lee Porter, Bertha Davis and Elizabeth Smith; and brothers, James Porter, Bill Porter and Charles Porter. She is survived by her son, David Hicks Jr and daughter in law Penny Hicks of Dalton; daughter, Sherry Hicks Bevans and son in law Lin Bevans of Cartersville; grandsons, Ricky and Randy Green, Andrew Price and Landon Hicks of Dalton; and granddaughters, Rachel Logreco of Dalton, Savannah Flowers and Lacceyi Bevans of Cartersville; a grandson, Blake Bevans and his wife Kellie Bevans of Cartersville; great grandchildren, Madi Green, Claire and Connor Bevans all of Cartersville; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother, Paul Porter; and sisters, Helen Edwards and Louise Davis of Chatsworth and Stella Sochochi of Calhoun. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mary Kathryn Porter Hicks will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Crews officiating. Interment will be at Macedonia Cemetery in the Dawnville community. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5-8 PM Friday evening, and from 12-2 PM prior to the service on Saturday.
