Mr. Ray Steelman, age 78, of Cohutta, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born on July 1, 1945. He is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Robert "PR" Steelman and Lola "Patterson" Steelman; wife, Mattie "Ruth" Steelman; brothers, Jr. Steelman, Don Steelman, Monroe Steelman, Howard Steelman, and Billy Steelman; sisters, Beulah Chastain, Christine Baisden, and Bonnie Jackson. Ray was a hardworking man and loved his grandkids and family very much. He is survived by his sons, Daniel Steelman and Samuel (Amy) Steelman; sisters, Virgie Howard and Juanita Peck; grandchildren, Danyelle (Stacy) Payne, Jessica (Jeremy) Cronan, Hagen (Myranda) Steelman, Brady Steelman, and Cody Stafford; and 8 great-grandchildren. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ray Steelman will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Jeremy Cronan and Joel Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at Little Conasauga Baptist Church Cemetery in Crandall. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Dalton Funeral Home.
