Rev. William Dale Bates age 79 of Dalton, Ga passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cullman, Alabama to his parents Chester Bates and Agnes Thompson Bates Brock. For eighteen years Rev. Dale Bates served as pastor for Tilton Baptist Church. He coached at Eastside School in Whitfield Co. and won several Championships as well. He retired from North Ga. Electric after 42 years of service. Rev. Dale Bates was preceded in death by his father, Chester Bates; mother, Agnes Bates Brock; grandparents, Matthew Thompson and Bertha Hicks Thompson; William and Estell Bates; his father and mother-in law, Manuel (Athelee) Worley; his brother and sister in-law, Wallace and (Mary) Bates; sister and brother in-law, Shelda and (Evon) Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Judy Bates of 60 years whom he loves so much; his sons, Lesley Bates and Jeremy (Sally) Bates both of Dalton, Ga.; brother, Dennis Bates of Cullman, Ala.; sisters, Jan Brock of Cullman, Ala., Beverly (Marlin) Bates of Cullman, Ala.; grandchildren, Cassidy (Taylor) Blansit, Kelsey (Trevor) Holmes, Caitlyn Bates, Deanna Bates (Taylor Masters), Jamie Rose, Gabriel Bates; great grandchildren, Namoi Seigler and Oliver Blansit; several nieces, nephews and his fur babies Malorie, Callie, Biscuit will miss him dearly. The family will be receiving friends for visitation for Rev. William Dale Bates from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The service will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM. in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Other Services will be held at a later date in Cullman, Alabama.
