Andrew Newtie Lusk, a beloved figure in his community, passed away on January 27, 2026, at NHC Fort Oglethorpe. He was born on July 11, 1938, in Scottsboro, and lived a life characterized by dedication, love, and cherished memories.
A proud veteran, Andrew served in the United States Army, instilling values of honor and commitment that he carried throughout his life. After his service, he made significant contributions to the textile industry as a co-owner of Lacey Mills, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic. In retirement, Andrew found joy in delivering flowers for Ruth and Doyle's, spreading happiness wherever he went.
Education was important to Andrew, who earned his Associates Degree and continuously valued learning and personal growth. His passion for golf made him a familiar presence on the greens, and he was a devoted fan of Alabama football. Andrew shared countless memorable moments watching games with his children, proudly capturing photographs at Alabama games, including treasured images of the legendary Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.
A distinctive trait of Andrew’s character was his warmheartedness. He lovingly cultivated friendships with the ladies at Bojangles, where he delighted them with Krispy Kreme donuts on his daily visits. His loving nature and thoughtfulness endeared him to many, leaving lasting impressions on all he encountered.
Andrew leaves behind his devoted wife, Barbara Lusk, and their children: Andy (Roberta) Lusk of Cleveland, TN; Shaun Lusk of Soddy Daisy, TN; Eric Lee Redwine of Dalton; and Lori (Erik) Varnadoe of Haddock, GA. He is also survived by his sister, Mavis Miller, as well as his grandchildren: Natasha and her husband Casey; Ariel and her husband John; Tyler; Alec; Blake; Abby; Aaron; Asa; and Asher; along with his great-grandchildren, Levi and Claire.
He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Lynda Lusk; son, Dondi Lusk, and brother, William Herbert Lusk. Andrew also joins his late sisters: Mildred Bryant, Erlene Bohannon, Vada Pickett, Reva Holt, and Wilma George.
Andrew Newtie Lusk’s life was a testament to love, camaraderie, and a committed spirit. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends, inspiring all who knew him to carry forward the joy, kindness, and enthusiasm he embodied throughout his years.
A private family burial will occur at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at a later date.
