Obituary

After many years of battling Alzheimer's, I finally won the good fight. Jesus called me home as He knew I was ready. I am joining my grandparents, parents Hayden and Vicki Conner, brother Steve Conner, and sister Connie Conner in heaven. I am departing on earth my greatest blessings, my devoted husband and caretaker of 34 years, Sam Patrick, son Austin Patrick and wife Jessica, daughter Lauren Patrick Stephens and husband Andrew, and my two precious granddaughters Kinsley Hayden Blount and Maisyn Drew Stephens, mother in law Patrica Pagura Garner, sister in law Jane Patrick Fritz and Dean, Toni Patrick Dickerson and Bill, brother in law Gabe Garner, brother Greg Conner and several cousins, nephews and nieces. I was born in Ellijay, GA, but spent my life in Dalton, Ga. I graduated Southeast Whitfield High School in 1979 and loved to drag Main in my Z28 Camaro. I loved animals of all kinds as I was my very own Elly May Clampett. Riding my horses Bo and Sizzler is where I felt most alive. Ultimately, being a mom was my greatest joy in life. My son came to me when he was 2 years old, and I loved him just as my very own. That boy can drive a race car, and I had the pleasure of watching him many Saturday nights. God knew I always wanted a daughter and after years of trying He gave me the best. Although she didn't turn out to be the cowgirl, I wanted to ride horses with, she became my very best friend. My oldest granddaughter came when my mind started slipping. I truly believe she was God's gift for me to enjoy and experience having a grandbaby and to watch my daughter flourish into a mother. My doctor told me I had six months to a year in April of 2022. The following April I got to watch my daughter get married and in August of 2024, my second grandchild was born. Maisyn is 5 months old and when she gets fussy my husband can lay her on my hospital bed, and she will go straight to sleep lying with me…. that's just Jesus. God granted me almost 3 extra years with my family and that I am forever grateful for. 34 years ago, my husband and I made vows in front of God and our family and friends. He has been my best friend throughout it all. Thank you, Sam, for sticking to those vows and taking care of me just like you promised… The Notebook style. When it's your time to go I'll be waiting for you in the horse pasture, saddled up and ready to ride. You will always be the cowboy on the horse who rode in and stole my heart! My crazy husband who looks just like Kid Rock! While I did not plan to leave Earth so soon, I pray someone will find God through my testimony. To my family and friends, please do not mourn me for I am finally at peace with a sharp mind and get to spend eternity singing in Jesus's choir. Take care of one another and know I am just a prayer away. "Sit tall in the saddle. Hold your head up high. Keep your eyes fixed where the trail meets the sky and live like you ain't afraid to die. And don't be scared. Just enjoy your ride."
