Barbara Gwen Allen age 79, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. Barbara Allen, born November 5, 1946, in Lynch, Kentucky, was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Eugene Sowards and Ellen Storey Sowards. Barbara had a deep love for the outdoors—she enjoyed skiing, swimming, and truly anything that involved being in the water. She also found joy in tending to her yard and caring for her flowers, where she spent many peaceful hours. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Junior Allen, and her brother, Charles Allen "CA" Sowards. She is survived by her two sons, Bryan (Loretta) Rowland and Vince Rowland; her step son, Kendall (Marsha) Allen; and her grandchildren, Brittany Rowland, Keith (Jade) Rowland, Justin (Dina) Rowland, Cameron (Tiffany) Rowland, Reyna Cruz, and Whitney (Josh) Busie. She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy. A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday at 1:00 P.M., Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Varnell Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at Dalton Funeral Home.
