Bessie "Kathy" Godfrey age 85, of Dalton, Ga. passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024. She was born March 21, 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Edward Godfrey; parents, N.G and Stella Wimpey; brothers, Bobby Wimpey, Richard Wimpey, Tommy Wimpey, Doyle Wimpey, CG Wimpey, Buddy Wimpey, Truman Wimpey, Harry Jr. Wimpey, R.L Wimpey; sister, Adaline Newman; infant son, Michael Godfrey. She was a devoted member of Northside Church in Gainesville, GA, and was an active participant in the Senior Citizen Support Council. Her greatest joy was raising her grandchildren, pouring love and care into their lives. She never met a stranger, always opening her heart and arms to anyone in need, embodying kindness and generosity in everything she did. She is survived by her sons, J.R. Morris and wife Connie, John Morris and wife Peggy, James Morris and wife Penny, Brett Godfrey; daughters, Lucinda Smith and husband Michael, Tammy Cabrera and husband Tony, Mistie Moore and husband Timothy; twenty-one grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ms. Bessie "Kathy" Godfrey will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Cronan officiating. Interment will be at Liberty Baptist Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Dalton Funeral Home.
