Bessie "Iola" Smith, age 98, of Dalton, Ga. passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was born February 12, 1926. Iola was a sweet soul and loved by everyone. She lived a long happy and adventurous life. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Horace Lane Weaver and Ivory Lola Weaver; husband, Charles E. Smith; sisters, Veda Pettet, Paralee Richardson, Meda Bearden, Vaudell Brock, Ruth Wimpy. She is survived by her daughter, Celia Cantrell; grandchildren, Kelly (Michelle) Cantrell, Blake (April) Cantrell; great grandchildren, Alex (Brianna) Cantrell, Isaac Cantrell, Torrie Cantrell, Link Cantrell, Lori Cantrell, Colt Cantrell, Cali Mckeeham, Emma Barry, Aria Barry; great great grandchildren, Dawson Cantrell, Elijah Cantrell; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ms. Bessie Smith will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Greg officiating. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Dalton Funeral Home.
