Betty Taylor Watkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center. She was born on May 8, 1947, in Shoal Creek, North Carolina, and throughout her 79 years, she touched the lives of all who knew her with her gentle spirit and boundless care for others.

Betty was the cherished wife of Coye Watkins for 63 years, with whom she built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering support. Together, they cultivated a home full of warmth and kindness, always ensuring that no one ever did without. Betty’s legacy as a loving wife was matched only by her dedication as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Gary Watkins and his wife Darla, Paul Watkins and his fiancé Tonya, and Dennis Watkins. Her grandchildren, Tiffany Watkins, Brianna Mills, Amber Watkins, Adam Watkins, Brandy Roper, Stephen Watkins, Maya Rearden, Andrew Watkins, and Chris Watkins, 13 great-grandchildren, will forever cherish the way they called her “Granny,” a name spoken with love that captured her nurturing presence in their lives.

Betty’s life was marked by countless acts of love and generosity. She became the heart of her family, caring for each loved one with a gentle hand and a generous soul. Her home was always open, and her heart always ready to give. Everyone who came into her life was welcomed as family, and under her care, no one ever felt left behind.

She is also remembered for her vibrant spirit and love of games. Betty held a special fondness for rummy and bingo, and her competitive streak at the card table is fondly recalled by all who played with her. Whether celebrating victories or reveling in the shared joy of a game, Betty brought excitement, laughter, and warmth into every gathering.

Professionally, Betty retired from the electronics department at KMART. Her colleagues remembered her dedication, her reliability, and her supportive presence in the workplace. She took pride in her work and touched many lives throughout her career.

Betty was predeceased by her dear parents, James Taylor and Mamie Taylor, her son, Tim Watkins, and her brothers, whose companionship and memories she cherished deeply.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in remembrance during visitation on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Dalton Funeral Home, 620 S Glenwood Ave, Dalton, GA 30721. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, also at Dalton Funeral Home.
