Betty Jean Witt, age 86, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020. She was born on July 17, 1934 in Ellijay, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George L. Witt; parents, Henry and Lora Parks; brothers, John Parks, Billy Parks, Edwin Parks, James Parks, Raymond Parks; sisters, Ruby Charles, Hazel Wofford, Magdalene Norton and Paula Davis. She is survived by her sons and daughter in law, Greg and Mira Witt of Tunnel Hill, Tim L. Witt of LaFayette and his fiancé Shalanda Mohan; daughters and son in law, Allison and Bill Thornton of LaFayette, Marsha Dycus of Dalton; brothers and sister in law, Bobby and Hazel parks of Dalton, Fred Parks; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren with 1 on the way; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Betty Jean Witt will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at North Whitfield Missionary Baptist Church (3825 Chattanooga Rd. Tunnel Hill, GA 30755) with pastor JT Sanders and Pastor Gerald Foster officiating. Interment will be at United Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5-8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home, and from 2-3 PM at the church prior to the funeral on Wednesday.
