Billy Joe Bennett, age 68, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023. He was born on February 10, 1955. He was a veteran and served in the Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ruby "Cochran" Bennett; brothers, Melvin Bennett, Tommy Bennett, Roy Bennett; sisters, Linda Hayes, Brenda Oglesby, Lona Mae Martin, Frances Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Cox; sons, Adam and Lacey Bennett of Panama City, FL., Joey Bennett of Dalton, Kevin and Diane Vineyard of Calhoun, Johnny and Angie Vineyard of Dalton; daughter, Tina and Jeff Long of Dalton, Selena Ooten of Tunnel Hill; brother, Richard Bennett of Dalton, sisters, Barbara Jean Land of Dalton, Loretta and Bill Akins of Chatsworth; Grandchildren, Austin Long, Adain Bennett, Javik Bennett, Colter Long, Gage Long, Jimmy Johnson, Travis Vineyard, Courtney Long, Alyssa Bennett, Brittany Whorley, Kimberly Johnson; five great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Billy Joe Bennett will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2023 in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Interment will be at Dug Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Dalton Funeral Home.
