Billy G. Smith, age 74, of Cohutta, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019. He was born on May 9, 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Estelle Smith; sons, Nathan Smith and Matthew Smith; grandson, Cameron Barbee; brothers, Harris Smith, Gaither Smith, Homer Smith and Leroy Smith. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Smith of Cohutta; sons and daughter in law, Brence Smith of McMinnville, TN, Hubert and Casey Barbee of Cohutta, Joseph Barbee and Shawn Ledford of Florida; brothers, Bob and Helen Smith, George and Linda Smith; sisters, Eva Johnson of Pikeville, TN, Wilma Hawkins of Pikeville, TN, Virginia Summers of Dunlap, TN, Betty, Reva, Edna; grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Rachel Smith, Benjamin Smith, Carmon Barbee, Kayra Barbee; great grandchildren, Riley Dawson, Inman Smith, Oliver Smith, Charliegh Smith, Caroline Bohensky, and Elaina Fincher; and loved by many nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5-8 PM Thursday evening, September 12, 2019 at the funeral home. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Billy G. Smith will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 13, 2019 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cochran officiating. Interment will be at Lindsey Memorial Cemetery.
