Billy Smith, age 78, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born on March 26, 1938. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar W. Smith and his wife; mother, Irene Pratt and her husband; brothers, sisters and nephew. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith of Dalton; daughters, Cindy Bennett of Dalton, Renee Joyce of Dalton, Tiffany Cochran and Ti Carroll; sons, Doug Smith of Athens, TN and Richard Smith of Dalton; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; niece, nephew, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles also survive. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Billy Smith will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2017 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond McCranie officiating. Interment will be at United Memorial Gardens. Ryne Eads, Billy Eads, Micheal Kish, Tyler Kish, Shawn Coram and Jacob Bennett will be serving as pallbearers.
