Billy G. Tankersley, age 85, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. He was born on May 17, 1931. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeraldene Bell Tankersley; father, Clarence Tankersley and mother, Anna Louise Jenkins Tankersley; son, Billy Wayne Tankersley; brothers, Bobby Tankersley and Leroy Tankersley; sister, Patsy Hooker. He is survived by his wife Barbara Tankersley of Dalton, GA; sons and daughters in law, Clinton and Susan Tankersley of Chatsworth, GA, Marty and Tammy Tankersley of Nashville, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Johnny Taylor of Chatsworth, GA; brother and sister in law, Jack and Berdie Tankersley; sisters, Charlotte Culberson and Barbara Tankersley; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Billy G. Tankersley will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Church of God of the Union Assembly with Brother Charlie Pratt and Brother Lonnie Starnes officiating. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 5-8 PM at the funeral home on Monday evening.
