Charles (CW) Bruce, age 95, of Dalton, Georgia passed away at home on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. He was born on September 11, 1923. He was a resident of the Dawnville community for 70 years and he loved his farm. He was a World War II veteran and a Purple Heart recipient among other medals and will be given full military honors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Bruce; parents, Wade Bruce and Mamie Godfrey; and brother, Ed Godfrey. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Ray and Joyce Bruce of Dalton; daughters, Linda Brogdon of Dalton, Phyllis Bruce of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Charles Brogdon, Kevin Brogdon, Christy Tubbs Aitchison, Dale Bruce; brother, Winfred Godfrey; sisters, Irene Bridges, Mildred Barefield, Lula Johnson; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. To celebrate the life of Charles (CW) Bruce the family will have visitation from 1-3 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Dalton Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Center Valley Cemetery in Chatsworth with Pastor Marty Greene officiating. Charles Brogdon, Kevin Brogdon, Rob Aitchison, Colby Kilgore, Dale Bruce and Hunter Bruce will be serving as pallbearers.
