Rev. Dennis David Crider took his heavenly flight on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at his home. Rev. Crider has been a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly Inc. since 1946. He was baptized in 1956 and ordained as a minister on July 6, 1968. He served as pastor in Dayton, Hamilton, Cleveland and Cincinnati Ohio, Metropolis, Illinois, and Centre, Alabama. He also served as State Overseer of the States of Alabama and Florida, and he took his seat as a distinguished member of the Council of The Church of God of the Union Assembly, Inc. in April, 2003 to present. Rev. Crider was proceeded in death by his father, Rev. Wesley V. Crider; step mother Leola Crider; sons, Herbie and Lloyd McCollum; sister, Mary Jo Pratt; brother, Kenneth Brown; and granddaughter, Pamela McCollum. Rev. Crider is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Naomi Crider; mom, Roberta Crider; children, Debbie & Matt Stacks of Dalton, Georgia, Wesley & Sandra Crider of Ringgold, Georgia, Jay & Fosteine Crider of Cedartown, Georgia, Marty & Tanya Crider of Newnan, Georgia, and Martain & Tim Witt of Rockyface, Georgia; and siblings: Jim Crider, Shae & Dave Warren, Ann & Bob Dexheimer, Wayne & Carol Crider, Steve & Selena Crider, Linda Leola & Wayne Thackston, Jesse & Debra Crider, Floretta McDaniel, Shirley & Eddie Wiggs, Ronnie & Shirley Brown, Harold & Loramae Brown, Travis & Jett Brown, and Tommy Jo Brown; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at The Church of God of the Union Assembly Inc., 2211 South Dixie Hwy, Dalton, Georgia. The body will lie in state at the church on Sunday, June 26th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm with the service immediately following at The Church of God of the Union Assembly Inc. with Rev. Fred Cassell, Rev. Phillips Gentry and Rev. Pratt Hughes officiating; interment following at West Hill Cemetery of Dalton, Georgia. Arrangements are by Dalton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations for funeral expenses may be made to Dalton Funeral Home.
