Derris Dewayne Smith, age 69, of Villanow, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020. He was born on February 8, 1951. He was preceded in death by his son, Derris Dewayne Smith, JR; and his parents, Reverend Derris and Sussie Smith. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Christie and Landon Blackwell of Lafayette; brother, Donnie Smith of Tunnel Hill; sisters and brother in law, Physleta Gowin of Rocky Face, Linda Eubanks of Dalton, Patricia and Carl Parker of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Yolanda Williams and Noah Burns, Amanda and Blake Stepp, Lois and Aaron Buff; great grandchildren, Ava, Nova, Sophie, Aiden, Jessi, Jagger, Colton and Shelby. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Derris Dewayne Smith will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2020 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Chastain and Ricky Clark officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5-8 PM Sunday evening. Landon Blackwell, Aaron Buff, Brad Townsend, Blake Stepp, Noah Burns and Aiden Stepp will be serving as pallbearers.
