On March 6, 2025, at 7:07 pm, our beloved Momma and Meme saw the face of Jesus and took her first steps in 3 ½ years. Diane Coker was a cherished mother, a loving Meme to five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren in Heaven, and four foster great-grandchildren. For many years, she was known as "Dine" to the children she cared for—until her first granddaughter came along and lovingly changed her name to "Meme." From that moment on, all the children she kept called her by that name. Those who knew her also knew she was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan—she never missed a game, even if she had to record it. More than anything, though, she knew and loved the Lord. Because of her unwavering faith, all her children, grandchildren, and two foster grandchildren came to know Him as well. She was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church for 54 years, rarely missing a service until she entered a nursing home 3 ½ years ago. She was born on July 28, 1952. Diane was proceeded in death by her parents, Elmer and Frances 'Ballew' Cornwell; brother-in-law, Tommy Kirk; her great grandchildren angel babies, Ruthanne and Baby Muse. She is survived by daughters, Angie Strong (William Craig), Karen Muse (Mark), Sharon Ratcliff (Daniel); sister, Annette Kirk; grandchildren, Kiersten Shamblin (Willy), Logan Strong (Macey), Kristopher Muse (Emily), Kyle Muse (Whitney), Kelsi Barbour (Cristan); great grandchildren, Hudson Shamblin, Easton Barbour, Everly Muse; four foster great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Lois Morgan, Betty Sullivan. During her time at Regency Park, she became a friend to many residents and staff. Her room became a gathering place, filled with laughter and conversation. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff for the kindness and care they provided during her final years. A service for Diane Coker will be at 2:00 P.M on Sunday, March 9, 2025 in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Muse officiating. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery. Family will be receiving friends for visitation Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 5:00 P.M – 8:00 P.M at Dalton Funeral Home.
