Diane Celia Sumbs passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center, just two days before her 71st birthday. Born on June 25, 1955, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, Diane’s life was a testament to unwavering love, kindness, and dedication to family.
Diane was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and supportive sister whose presence touched all who knew her. She was the cherished mother of Sara Stokes, Danielle King, and Michael Christen, each of whom carry forward her legacy of compassion and resilience. Diane’s heart overflowed with love for her family, and above all, her grandchildren held a special place in her life, they were truly her world. She was the proud grandmother of eleven, each child a source of immense joy.
Her life was also marked by meaningful connections with her siblings. Diane’s sister, Ruthi Dayton survives her, sharing in the many memories forged through years of family gatherings and shared milestones. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Harold Allen Dale, her dear sister, Donna McCallum, and her cherished grandson, Chris Collis, whose memories remained close to Diane’s heart throughout her days.
Diane was known for her creative spirit and gentle soul. She found beauty in words, often expressing herself through poetry that reflected her innermost thoughts and emotions. Her love for animals, especially her cats, brought her comfort and joy throughout her life.
Though her journey has come to an end, Diane Celia Sumbs leaves behind a profound legacy of love, warmth, and creative expression. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in their hearts.
Celebration of Life will be held, Friday, July 3, 2026 at Mount Rachel Baptist Church at 3:00 PM, 332 Haig Mill Lake Road, Dalton, GA 30720.
