Donald "Don" Troy Maness, age 67, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born on September 18, 1947 in Calhoun. Don was proud of the time he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a professional musician in several bands and has traveled all over the country playing blue grass music. He loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Decie Maness; 2 brothers, Joel JR and Gene Maness; grandson, Aaron Seth Maness; brother-in-law, Hugh Don Wilson. Don is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Anne Maness of Dalton; son, Donald Wade Maness and his wife Andrea of Cleveland, TN; daughter, Sonja Maness Dake and her husband Greg of New Market, AL; grandsons, Samuel and Sean Cannon of Johnsonville, SC, and William Dake of New Market, AL; sister, June Wilson of Sugar Valley, GA; sisters-in-law, Linda Mizzell and her husband George, Loretta Lance and her husband Gordon; brother-in-law, Doyle Cochran and his wife Patricia; cousin, Maybelle Knight of Soap Stick, GA; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Truett Moss of Red Bud, GA, Mary Robinson of Rocky Face, GA, Johnny and Connie Bennett of Dalton, Steve and Bernadette Smith of Dalton; and little dog Lizzie. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Donald "Don" Troy Maness will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Minister Tyler Gilreath and Don's son Wade Maness officiating. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 12:00 PM till the hour of service.
