Donnie (Butch) Thompson, age 74, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019. He was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church and served as a Trustee for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. WR Thompson and Mrs. Thelma Kerr; a sister, Nancy Coleman; and a special aunt, Myrtle Owens. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis Thompson of the residence; a special baby, Claire Duddleston; sister and brother in law, Janice and Steve Pass of Cleveland, TN; nephews, Bruce Coleman of Greenville, SC and Corey Pass of Cleveland, TN; several cousins; and a good friend, Bill Flowers of Dalton. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Donnie (Butch) Thompson will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Postell officiating. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 2:00 PM until the hour of service. Special thanks to his friends and caregivers, Jennifer Wright, Lisa Duddleston, Debbie Clark and Vickie Bearden. At Mr. Thompson's request he will be cremated and in lieu of flowers all donations can be made to Welcome Hill's building fund.
