Douglas Windell Gay age 68, of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Doug, as those who knew him called him, was born in Rome, GA, on July 24, 1957, the son of Billy Gay and Frances Spates. He was an easy going person in work and relaxation, and he traveled all over the U.S. as a long haul truck driver for over three decades. Doug was a loving father and grandfather. A pioneer of "dad jokes" before they were given that name and with an inviting sense of humor. He was always ready to joke and laugh with others just as freely as he'd laugh at himself. Never one to meet a stranger, Doug could start up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, singing, sci-fi everything, western movies, and tinkering with electronics. In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by a daughter, Tammy Robinson (David); son, Matthew "Adam" Gay (Valarie); two grandchildren, Keara Gay and Nicholas Gay; and sister, Sandy Buttrum.
