Mr. Dwight E. "Ike" Howden Jr., age 80 departed this beautiful/wonderful life May 7, 2018 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father Dwight E. Howden Sr. and mother Maybelle Engrisch Howden of Nekoosa, WI and sisters Dolores Deram of Waukegan, WI and Yvonne Hoffman of Nekoosa, WI. He is survived by his loving wife of "59" years Alice R. Howden of Dalton, GA and daughters Tanya L. Howden and Tara L. Elrod, son in law Mike Elrod and grandchildren Aleczander Howden Brooks (wife, Hannah), Hannah K. Brooks, Monica L. Elrod and great grandson Colt Self along with his sisters Marlene Kniprath of Rudolph, WI and Renita (Bob) Sutherland of Superior, WI. Ike was born in Chicago IL, on December 31, 1937. Raised in Nekoosa WI, along with his four siblings. Ike was a design engineer for the carpet and textile manufacturing equipment industry. He started designing for Praschak in Marshfield, WI, where he lived with his wife and children until moving to Dalton, GA in 1970. Then he worked for Cook and Ingle, along with JM Feighery and Lewallen before starting his own business "Howden Equipment Inc."in 1986. Ike was very passionate about his designs. He was a man that many people in the industry looked up to because of his ingenuity. He was also a silent partner in the industrial belting industry. He sold his business "Howden Equipment Inc."to Tuftco Corp in 1999 where he continued to consult with Tuftco until his retirement in 2014. Ike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a great photographer, and loved scuba diving, traveling, and in his early years working on his sports cars. He was a huge sports fan of football and nascar racing. He was a very adventurous man and even had a pilot's license for a while so he could just fly around and be free, which he really enjoyed. A celebration for "IKE" will be held in the town of Rome, WI to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in Ike's honor to any charitable organization.
