Effie Lee Hughes, age 83, passed away on Monday morning, November 18, 2013 at Hamilton Medical Center. She was born on June 8, 1930 in Ellijay, GA to the late Branerd and Effie Mae Harper. Effie was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Hughes; daughter, Carolyn Lambert; brothers, Kenneth Harper and Clarence Harper; sister, Dorothy Dean. She was survived by her sons and daughters in law, Alan Hughes of Dalton, Jeff and Debbie Hughes of Dalton, Larry Hughes of Dalton, and Mel and Rita Hughes of Chatsworth; daughter and son in law, Andrea and Jerry Preciado of Nashville; grandchildren, Stacy Hughes, Wane Hughes, Sean Hughes, and Shannon Bishop; great grandchildren, Houston Hughes, Austin Hughes, Trenton Powers, Branson Johnson, Taylor Hughes, and Courtney Johnson. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Effie Lee Hughes will be held at 12:00 Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Headrick and Rev. Roy Groce officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 9:00 Tuesday evening.
