Elizabeth Ann "Kit" Heaton, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 21, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her girls. Born on February 16, 1949, in Trenton, GA, Kit lived a life rich with love, faith, and dedication to her family.
Throughout her career, Kit worked at Shaw for 26 years, where she was known not only for her work ethic but also for the warmth she brought to her workplace. Her genuine kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
Above all, Kit was devoted to her family. She adored her daughters; Paula Dailey, Charlene Hayes, Kristy (John) Shavers, and Deana Watson, who were the pride of her life. As a grandmother, she showered love upon her grandchildren; Reid Jones, Kayla Jones, Trevor Jones, Chelsey (Nathan) Rivers, and Avery Rivers; and cherished her great-grandchildren, Caaliyah, Naixa, Niona, Paisley, and Marlee. To many, she was affectionately known as "Mama Kit," she was given the name by her special niece Mandy McClain who she treated as her daughter.
Kit’s upbringing in church instilled a deep love for the Lord, which guided her throughout her life. Her faith and commitment to her family were the twin pillars of her existence, reflecting her personality and the way she raised her loved ones. She was a source of strength, comfort, and laughter, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer warm words of encouragement.
She is survived by her loving sisters; Jessie Mae Whitley and Gail Goins, and brothers; Timmy Stephens and David Stephens. Kit's legacy of love will carry on through her family, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Charlie James Heaton, her parents; Roy H. Stephens and Opal Faye Stephens, and her siblings; Arthell Carrell, Wanda Rhinehart, Sonny Stephens, Sue Cloud, C.W. Stephens, Joy McClain, and William Stephens, son-in-law, Harlan "Yeti" Hayes. This loss leaves a significant void in the hearts of her family and friends, but her spirit will remain alive in the cherished moments they shared.
A visitation will be held on February 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on February 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM, both at Dalton Funeral Home, located at 620 S Glenwood Ave, Dalton, GA 30721. The family invites all who knew and loved Kit to come and celebrate her beautiful life, sharing stories and memories that reflect the light she brought into this world. She may have departed from this earthly plane, but her love and spirit will forever linger in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hamilton Hospice for taking such great care of their Mom. She loved everyone of the ladies.
