Elmon "Jerome" Mitchell, age 69, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020. He was born on January 13, 1951. We are at peace in knowing Jerome has received his ultimate healing surrounded by his loving family as he entered into Heaven's kingdom. He was a truck driver and his CB handle was Dr. J. Jerome was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Joe and Loutrelle (Weeks) Mitchell. He is survived by his son, Lee Mitchell of Dalton; grandchildren, Dakota Mitchell (Jasmine), Ethan Mitchell, and Hannah Lee Mitchell; the mother of his son and grandmother of his grandchildren, Diane Hall Arnold. Stepsons, Jerry Holliday (Lisa) of Dalton, John Holliday (Tonja) of Dalton; step daughter, Jennifer Holliday of Dalton; mother of his stepchildren that brought much joy in his life, Shirley Smith Mitchell. Sisters, Charlotte Mitchell Eaton (Hill) of Dalton, Jolane Mitchell Broadrick (Mike) of Villanow; grandchildren, Kayla and Andrew Watkins, Leigha and Nicholas Ortiz, Kristy Holliday, Kara Cochran Holliday; great grandchildren, Braxton Watkins, Cheyenne Watkins, Carson Watkins, Savannah Watkins, Austin Ortiz, Ryan Ortiz, Matthew Ortiz, and Shelby Ortiz. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Elmon "Jerome" Mitchell will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Bro. John Souther officiating. Interment will be at Dawnville United Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
