Eric Steed Hayes, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away at his residence on October 11, 2026, at the age of 57. He was born on August 30, 1969, in Dalton, and will be remembered with deep love by those who knew him.

Eric built a career as a District Manager for the Chattanooga Times. He was also known for the joy he found in the things he loved most. He was a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan and a devoted NASCAR fan, and those passions were part of the spirit he brought to everyday life. Above all, Eric loved his wife with all his heart, and that love stood at the center of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Hayes, whose life was shared with his in love and companionship. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney Hayes, and Rodney’s wife, Misty; his sister-in-law, Melinda Hayes; his special brother, Madison Stamey; his special brother, Kenneth Abrams; and his nephew, Thomas Hayes. Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of Eric and the place he held in their lives.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Steed Hayes; his mother, Mary Ann Hayes; his brother, Timothy Hayes; and his nephew, Kevin Hayes and niece, Katelynn Hayes. Their memories remained part of Eric’s life and story, and he now rests with those who went before him.

Celebration of life will be conducted on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at New Hope Baptist Church in Tunnel Hill from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

Eric will be remembered for his loyalty, his passions, and the love he gave so freely to the people closest to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will continue to cherish the moments they shared with him.
