Ernest William Collins, age 84, of Resaca, Georgia passed away Monday, January 28, 2019. He was born on May 25, 1934. Some knew him as Doc or Burger Man. He was retired from the United States Army and will have full military honors. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Waurega Louise Collins; parents, Robert and Prudie Bell Collins; brothers, Robert Collins, Ed Collins, Glen Collins, Dalphus Collins, Frank Collins; sisters, Mary Ruth Bryant, Mattie Defore and Olar Williams. He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Darryl and Sandra Collins of Dalton, Ernest and Patty Collins of Dalton, Waymon and Jennifer Collins of Harrison, TN, John and Joletta Collins of Dalton; daughter and son in law, LaGretta and Tim Sexton of Resaca; brother, Charles Roberts of Dalton; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Reflections at Tranquility for their amazing nurses who gave their all during his stay. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ernest William Collins will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Church of God of the Union Assembly with Bro. Lonnie Starnes and Pastor Stony Kiser officiating. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5-8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
