Faye Smith Atkins, age 77, of Dalton, Georgia passed away peacefully in her sleep the afternoon of Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Ridgewood Manor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Kell Smith and Delia Mae Smith; brother, Leonard Dwight Smith; and brother-in-law, Donald Hagin. Faye was a hardworking, loving mother, and a friend to all she met. She was outgoing, adventurous, and had a smile that could brighten any room. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God. Faye is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Danny Stewart; son, Anthony Boatwright: son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sandra Cardin; grandchildren, Anthony Defore (Heather), Jacob Defore and Kadie Cardin; great-grandchildren, Brayden Grant, Bentley Grant, and Aubree Defore, Brylee Brown; her sister, Opal Hagin; brother and sister-in-law, R.S. and Carol Smith; sister-in-law, Donna Holt Smith; and many nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5-7 PM on Monday, August 26, 2024 with a celebration of life to be held at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Faye will be interned at Serenity Hills Memorial Park in Chatsworth, GA. At the wishes of her family there will be no graveside services.
