Gaylon "Cotton" Jeffers, a devoted family man and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at Murray Woods Assisted Living. Born on July 27, 1947, in Oneida, Tennessee, he lived a life marked by hard work, commitment, and love.

Cotton devoted over 40 years of his career to Shaw, where he served with distinction as a supervisor. His steadfast dedication and leadership left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him. Beyond his professional achievements, Cotton was known for his strong work ethic and loving nature, qualities that defined him both at work and at home.

A faithful member of Free Hope Baptist Church, Cotton found strength and community in his faith, which was a central part of his life. His connection to the church reflected his values and his caring spirit, which touched many within the congregation.

He is survived by his beloved son, Tim Jeffers; his cherished granddaughter, Tori Jeffers; and his siblings, JJ Jeffers and Betty Jean Sexton, grandson, Jacob Sitton, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, his beloved church family and friends also survive.

The memories and love he shared with his family will endure as a testament to his character and the role he played in their lives.

Gaylon was preceded in death by his parents, Audie Feasure Jeffers and Rose Phillips Jeffers, his sibling’s, Ray, Cecil, Estill, Virgil, Ruth, Ruby, and Sandra Jean Jeffers, who undoubtedly shaped the foundation of his values and strength.

Cotton’s passing leaves a space profoundly felt by all who knew him. His legacy as a hardworking supervisor, a loving father, and a faithful church member will continue to inspire and be remembered with great respect and affection.
