Obituary

George Walter Weyant, age 75, of Central Valley, New York, recently of Dalton, Georgia passed away Friday, August 31, 2018. He was born on November 25,1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, George A and Stella Weyant. His loving wife Judy Weyant; daughter, Stacy Weyant; and brother, Gary Weyant. He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Jeffrey) of Dalton, GA; brother, Peter (Ruth) of Appomattox, VA; sister-in-law, Linda Weyant of Highland Mills, New York; niece, Melanie (Bill) Jones; nephews, Wade Weyant and Robert Weyant. George Walter Weyant was also known as "Little Puddin". The story that he loved to tell was when he was younger the other kids would make fun of him, so one day his Mom told him that she had changed his middle name from Walter to Little Puddin. Why? Because everyone loves puddin! After that he had no trouble making friends. He fought every battle with quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. After having his leg amputated and while getting fitted for his prosthetic he told the doctor to make sure they made the correct leg otherwise he would be going in circles. Always the jokester. Every time someone would ask his height, he would smile and say, "I'm 6'1" in the right leg and 5'1" in the left. "I lost a foot". His passion for sports was like no other. Racing was in his blood. He spent most of his adult life as the first turn flagman at the Orange County Fair Speedway. He would travel all over following the dirt circuit. He also enjoyed NASCAR. Kyle Busch was his favorite driver. He would love it when Kyle would take a bow after the win. He has attended several races and just a few weeks ago he attended the night race at Bristol. While there he said he waited his whole life to make it there. He had the biggest smile on his face. He never met a stranger and if he talked to you ever for just a little while he would know everything about you and would never forget. Years would go by and when he saw you again he would pick up where you left off. He lived his life based on the Michael Landon quote, "Whatever you want to do, do it now. There are only so many tomorrows." George Walter Weyant was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to independently owned and operated Dalton Funeral Home, 620 S. Glenwood Ave. Dalton, GA; 706-529-5371.
