Rev. Greer Lawford "G.L." Martin age 90 of Tunnel Hill, GA passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2013 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton. Born on July 7, 1923 in Knoxville, Tennessee he was the son of the late James and Ella W. Martin. He was married to the late Burnetta Martin. G.L. was a fireman in Knoxville, TN for a number of years and a member of the Modern Woodmen. He served as the General Overseer of the Cleveland Church of God, Pastored the Lucky St. Church of God and later went on to evangelize. Spreading the Gospel was G.L.'s true life calling; the ministry brought him a lifetime of fulfillment and happiness. G.L. is survived by his sons, Troy Martin and Wayne Martin; daughters, Shirley Garner and Sandra Ralston; 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. G.L. was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Burnetta Martin, his parents, and a son, Terry Martin. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rev. G.L. Martin will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at West Hill Cemetery in Dalton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 9:00PM on Tuesday evening.
