Gumersinda Mendez
Chiesa
Jan 13, 1938 — Oct 4, 2026
Dalton, Georgia
Gumersinda Mendez Chiesa, born on January 13, 1938, in Puerto Rico, passed peacefully from this life on October 4, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Gumersinda, also known as Heidi , was a woman of unwavering faith, a loving heart, and a strength that carried her and her family through life. She was a true prayer warrior, always turning to God in both times of joy and times of hardship. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about—it was something she lived, and it was a beautiful example to her children, grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She found happiness in many of life's simple and beautiful things. She loved tending to her garden, nurturing flowers and plants with the same patience and care she gave to those around her. Music was also a special part of who she was. She could play the guitar, piano, and accordion, and she loved to sing. Her family will forever treasure the memories of her music filling the home and the joy she brought through the songs she shared.
Above all else, Gumersinda loved her family. They were the center of her world, and the love, prayers, wisdom, and memories she gave them will continue to be carried from one generation to the next.
She is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Abby Chiesa-Lowe, and her husband, Chris; her sons, Hector Chiesa Jr. and his wife Mandy; and Abraham Chiesa; and her cherished grandchildren, Heidi Chiesa-Ramos and her husband, Juan, Randi Chiesa, Benita Smith and her husband, Thomas, Kristina Chiesa, Kendall Chiesa, Tati Chiesa, Josiah Chiesa, Jocelyn Chiesa, and Bram Chiesa; and her 8 great grandchildren
Though her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who loved her, Gumersinda leaves behind a beautiful legacy—one built on faith, family, prayer, music, and love.
Her family will remember the sound of her music, the beauty she brought to her garden, the strength of her prayers, and, most of all, the love she gave so freely. Her life was a blessing to those around her, and her memory will remain forever woven into the lives of the family she cherished.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to call her mother, grandmother, family, and friend.
