Harold James Newton, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2026. 

Harold was born on May 3, 1946. He was preceded in death by wife, Patricia Tester Newton, his parents, Lester and Bethel Shuler Newton and his sister, Francis Stanley. 

Harold will be remembered by his sons, Roger and Tami Newton of Dalton, Brent and Mandy Newton of Crandall, and Eric and Tonya Newton of Dalton; his grandchildren, Roger Newton II (Candace), Brittany Newton, Kinnady Payne (Ethan), Austin Newton, BreAnna Newton, Eli Newton, Tagann Dickson; and his great-grandchildren, Caroline Newton, Roger Newton III, Savannah Newton, Quinleigh Weber, and Rhett Weber.

 He is also survived by his brothers, Elbert (Mozelle) Newton, Donald (Ann) Newton, and Gary (Cathy) Newton along with several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. 

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10th at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Spangler officiating. Interment will follow at Center Hill Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service for visitation from 11:00 until 1:00.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Harold’s honor to Center Hill Baptist Church: 65 Berry Bennett Rd. Chatsworth, GA 30705. Arrangements have been entrusted and under the direction of Dalton Funeral Home.
