Hazel Holloway Smith, age 81, of Chatsworth, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Hazel was born on June 15, 1945, to the late Dave and Clara Holloway. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her daughter, April Sluder; brothers, Dennis, Jimmy, and Malcolm Holloway; sisters, Delanie, Emma, Abola, and Beatrice; granddaughter, Ariel Davis; great-grandson, Turner Davis Corbin; and son-in-law, Tommy Goswick.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Jerry Smith; her children, Jennifer (Randy), Steven (Melissa), Melinda (Robert), Angie (Dwight), Robin (Kenneth), and Deanna; her grandchildren, Matt, Amber (Andrew), Ashley, Lindsey, Brenden, Hannah (Hunter), Jordan, Anna, Starla, Sara Beth (Daniel), Katelyn, Jacob, Jade, Emily, and Leah; and her great-grandchildren, Mason, Reed, Carly, Sawyer, and Tate. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was a faithful member of Central Community Church where she treasured the worship, fellowship, and time spent with her church family.

Hazel devoted many years of her life to caring for others as an SICU nurse. Her career in nursing reflected the compassion and strength that were such an important part of who she was.

Hazel had a deep love for traveling and was blessed to travel all over the world, experiencing many different places and cultures. Traveling brought her great joy and gave her countless memories and stories to share with those she loved.

Hazel leaves behind a beautiful legacy of service, faith, love, and cherished memories. While she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing that she has finished her earthly journey and is now home with the Lord she faithfully served. Her faith has become sight, and she is rejoicing in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hazel Holloway Smith will be held at the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
