Hershel Halcomb age 68, of Cohutta, GA, passed into eternal life on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Hershel was born in Whitesburg, KY, on October 20, 1956, and was reborn on September 2, 2018. Hershel worked for Vulcan for 20 years. He took great pride in his projects. Hershel was a God-fearing Christian, excellent husband, and loved father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Halcomb and Ida Maxie Halcomb. Hershel leaves to mourn his passing, the love of his life, his wife, Debra Halcomb; three daughters, Hershella (William) of Red Fox, KY, Ida Gail (Daniel) of Crafts Colley, and Elizabeth (Ken) of Isom, KY; three step sons, Robert Burks (Payton), Willie Burks (Lindsay), and Larry Burks; a very special niece, Markie Sue Polly; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bertha Mae Sexton, Brenda Halcomb, and Herbert Halcomb. He had a special relationship with his father-in-law, Glenn Webb, whom he loved very much. Also, in his final days a special caregiver, Willine Burks. Host of other relatives and friends survive. A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 3:00 P.M., Chapel of the Dalton Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Dawnville Community Church Cemetery.
