Hubert Dorson Panter, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at Oaks at Ellijay in Georgia. Born on July 7, 1939, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, Hubert lived a life marked by dedication, faith, and a genuine love for family and the simple joys of life, including his fondness for fishing.

Hubert was a great Christian man whose steadfast spirit and kindness left an enduring impression on all who knew him. A loving and dedicated father, he cherished his role in guiding his children through life’s challenges and triumphs. He was a man of quiet strength and humble perseverance, qualities that defined both his personal character and professional career.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Melissa (Gene) Wright and his siblings, Edward (Vicky) Panter, Gail (Stephen) Price, and June (Jaime) Brunny. The family finds comfort in the presence of his sister-in-law, Bernice Panter and the special friend and devoted caregiver Cassidy Newell, whose compassion and care brought warmth during his final days.

Hubert’s path was also marked by profound loss. He was predeceased by his parents, Loy Panter, and Blanch Allen Panter, first wife, Annie Painter and second wife, Betty Star Panter, both of whom shared significant parts of his life journey. He is also mourned by his sons, Michael Panter and Julian Panter, his daughter, Selina Panter, and his brothers, David Panter, Herbert Panter—his twin brother—and Everett Panter. He also grieved the passing of his sisters, Willadean Adams and Bonnie Lance.

Throughout his life, Hubert embodied resilience and grace, navigating the trials of loss and change with unwavering faith. His family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Oaks of Ellijay and Compassus Hospice for the compassionate care and dignity they provided during his final moments.

Visitation to honor Hubert’s memory will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Dalton Funeral Home, located at 620 S Glenwood Ave, Dalton, GA 30721. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 3:00 PM at the same location.
