James Howard Godfrey, JR, age 80, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015. He was born January 9, 1935. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Godfrey; sons, Barry and Victor Godfrey; parents, James and Minnie Godfrey; brothers, Allen and David Godfrey. James is survived by his son and daughter in law, Joel and Carol Godfrey of Dalton; sisters and brother in law, Betty Hartsfield of Dalton, Janelle Welch of Dalton, Belvie and Leroy Chasteen of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Brooke Templeton of Murfreesboro, TN, Blake Godfrey of Murfreesboro, TN, Jeremy Godfrey of Douglasville, GA, Kayla Godfrey of Dalton; great grandchildren, Mason Templeton of Murfreesboro, TN, Brayden Templeton of Murfreesboro, TN, Paxton Godfrey of Murfreesboro, TN, and Mia Godfrey of Douglasville, GA. A funeral service to celebrate the life of James Howard Godfrey, JR will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Minister Doyle Parton officiating. Interment will be at Stanley Church of Christ Cemetery in Blue Ridge, GA. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00 PM – 9:00 Pm on Thursday evening.
