James Melvin Lewis Sr., age 91, of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed from this life and entered the eternal kingdom of heaven on Saturday, February 22, 2025. He was born on September 20, 1933 in Willacoochee, GA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Geneva Ann Lewis, his grandson Jack Daniel Lewis Jr, his parents, Bob and Nancy Lewis, his son-in-law, Mike Dailey, and his eight brothers and sisters. Known for his love of God, his family, and western shows, James leaves behind many who will cherish his memory. His knowledge of not just the Bible but history too was profound, and the chance to sit and listen to him share that knowledge will be missed. Though he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, James loved gospel music and enjoyed hearing his wife sing songs from a hymnal before her passing. With certainty, he is now singing in the heavenly choir with his beloved. He is survived by his six children and their spouses, Shelia Bourff (John Bourff), Joyce Garrison (Jeff Garrison), Debra Martin, James Lewis Jr. (Sonya Lewis), Jack Lewis, Rhonda Pugmire (Matt Pugmire). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on March 8, 2025 from 2pm at Dalton Funeral Home located at 620 S. Glenwood Ave., Dalton GA 30721. Family will be receiving friends from 12:00 P.M - 2:00 P.M Pastor Ronnie Chandler will officiate the celebration of life.
