James McFarland, age 61, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 14, 1953 in Ellijay, Georgia.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Darrene McFarland; brother, Howell Scott McFarland. He is survived by his wife, Jewel McFarland; son, Terry Lee Amos of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Sergio Vargas of Dalton, Edna Louise and Tim McGill of Chatsworth, Holly Willis of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Linda McFarland, Bill and Linda McFarland, all of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Wilburn Ridley of Chatsworth; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren. A funeral service to celebrate the life of James McFarland will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dogwood Valley Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.  The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 to 9:00 PM on Monday evening.
