James "Carey" Parrish, age 57, of Dalton, Ga. passed away at his residence on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was born July 22, 1967. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Cecil and Arlene Parrish; beloved grandmother, Ruth Duvall. A proud graduate of Southeast High School's Class of 1985, Carey carried that early foundation forward into a lifelong journey of care and compassion. After earning his nursing degree, he devoted his career to helping others, serving as a trusted and beloved member of the teams at Murray Medical Center and Hamilton Medical Center. His colleagues and patients alike will remember his empathy, professionalism, and warm smile that could light up any room. Beyond his career, Carey had a deep passion for life's simple and joyful pleasures. An avid lover of literature, he found solace and inspiration in the written word. His love of The Golden Girls brought laughter and joy to his life, a testament to his appreciation for wit and humor. His admiration for Diana Ross and The Supremes was unmatched, and their music served as the soundtrack to so many of his happiest moments. He is survived by his sister, Deanna Hemminger and husband Brian; special cousin and friend, Delana Sloan; nieces, Bayleigh Michael, Megan Hemminger, Madison Hemminger, Makenzie Hemminger and many close friends.
