James Norman Vineyard, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away at his residence on August 28, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on February 12, 1942, in Dalton, Georgia.

Norman Vineyard will be remembered as a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a great man whose presence meant much to those who knew and loved him. For more than 40 years, he worked as a truck driver, a career that reflected his dedication and strong work ethic. He also found enjoyment in baseball and especially loved cheering for the Atlanta Braves.

He leaves behind a family who will cherish his memory always: his son, Eric Vineyard; his daughter, Amy Edwards; his sister, Rayma Payne; his granddaughter, Gracie Vineyard; his grandson, John Steinbeck; and his great-granddaughters, Bryleigh Steinbeck, Aubrey Steinbeck, and Addelyn Steinbeck. Through each of them, his love and legacy continue on, and he will be remembered with deep affection in the lives of those closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Floyd Vineyard and Della Mae Vineyard; his one true love, Sandra Gail Vineyard, his brother, Jack Lamar Vineyard; and his sisters, Geraline Carter and Thelma Vineyard. Their memories remained an important part of his life, and now he rests with those who went before him.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Dalton Funeral Home, 620 S Glenwood Ave, Dalton, Georgia 30721. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., also at Dalton Funeral Home.

James Norman Vineyard will be remembered for his love for his family, his years of hard work, and the simple joy he found in the game of baseball. His memory will be held close by all who knew him.
