Janie P. Durham, departed this life at the age of 97 on Sunday, April 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 11, 1918. She is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin H. Durham; son, Wayne Durham; granddaughter, Vickie Simmons; parents, John and Adaline Patterson; stepmother, Ancelena Patterson; brothers, Miley, Poley, Richard, Jack, Harve and Theodore Patterson; sisters, Ciddie Payne, Annie Dean, Mendie Patterson, Ethel Silvey, Mae Dunn, Polly Dunn and Pauline Ballew; daughter-in-laws, Maxine, Elaine and Adele Durham. She was survived by her sons Ben JR, Eddie and David Durham; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Cecil Cochran, Connie and Danny Fowler and Lisa and Garry Burch; sister, Edna Childers; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Hamilton Hospice for their wonderful and loving care. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Janie P. Durham will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 4:00 till 9:00 PM on Tuesday evening. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
