J.E. Long age 80, of South Pittsburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. J.E. was born in Dalton, GA, on September 14, 1944, the son of the late Julius Long and Gusta Postell Long. He loved being outside and going to the lake. In addition to his parents, J.E. is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Long; two sons, Timothy and Rodney Long; sister, Dorothy Mae Arnold; a brother, Gary Long; and a brother-in-law, Junior Patterson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Patricia Long; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Keith Deal; step son and step daughter-in-law, Jamie and Sasha Cordle; grandchildren, Amber Davis (Patrick), Tanner Deal (Emily), Logan Long, Levi Long, and Alan Long; great-grandsons, Asher and Eli Davis; step grandchildren, Kelly Douglas, Amanda and Jack Strickland, and Esme Grace; brother, Jimmy Long; sisters, Shirley Patterson and Jeanette Greenway. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., Chapel of the Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Deal and Rev. Randy Deal.
