Jerry Poindexter, age 79, of Dalton, Ga. passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023. He was born on June 11, 1944. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris "Thomas" Poindexter; parents, Earl and Pauline Poindexter; brothers, Bill Poindexter, Robert Poindexter, Harold Poindexter, Mel Poindexter; sisters, Mickey Poindexter, Glenda Poindexter and his beloved fur baby Boomer. Masonic lodges often emphasize principles like charity, morality, and mutual support among members. Jerry committed to these principles, his love for everyone, and his genuine and warm-hearted personality. His dearest friend, called Jerry Mad Dog. He is survived by his son, Tommy Poindexter; daughter, Rosie Poindexter Perry and husband Brian; sister-in-law, Ruby Thomas and niece Buffy Nelson; grandchildren, Noah, Luke, Yolanda, Zach, Taylor; great-grandchildren, Ava, Robbie; extended family, Angelia Bradley and Mario, Lashae and Hank Henson, Amber and Tanner Stapp their son Kylan, Tyler Bradley and Giselle Ortiz; special friends that became part of the family include, Danny and Patricia Moore, Jesse Holmes, Tim and a very special thank you to Kelly Smith for the love and care she showed him through the years; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jerry Poindexter will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor George Miles III officiating. The interment will be at West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Dalton Funeral Home.
