Miss Spencer Brookshire, aged 90, of the Dug Gap community, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023. She was born February 13, 1932, the youngest daughter of the late Tobe and Annie Strickland Brookshire. She was the last living member of her generation in her family. Miss Brookshire worked for many years at Alladin Mills before retiring. She enjoyed gardening and cooking with her mother and sisters thereafter. She was a member of Dug Gap Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Roberta Brookshire and Rosalee Brookshire, aunts Mary Ruth Strickland Duvall and Gordia Strickland Ray. Her cousins, Martha Duvall Akins, Howard Duvall, Bonnie Duvall Bailey, Lamar Duvall, Arlene Duvall Parrish, Luther Ray, Nellie Ray Welles, Mary Ray, Hicks, and Lloyd Ray, also preceded her in death. She is survived by many second cousins, their spouses, and their children. The family would like to thank the staffs at Wood Dale Health and Rehabilitation and Quinton Memorial Health and Rehabilitation centers for the care provided to Miss Brookshire. Graveside burial will be at Swamp Creek Baptist Church cemetery on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Miss Brookshire will be interred alongside her parents and sisters.
