On December 25, 2022, John Henry Arnold was called home by our Lord. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after months of declining health. For months, he had been telling his family that he was ready to see his mama and daddy again and when that happened, it would be such a good day. On Christmas Day, his wish was granted and he left his broken, earthly body behind. His family takes so much comfort in knowing that he's celebrating Christmas with his mama and daddy again in Heaven – no more pain and suffering. Henry was born on August 21, 1945 in Gordon County to the late Geneva Harrison Stone and Lewis Henry Arnold. He is also preceded in death by his infant brother, Jack and his baby sister, Sylvia whom he adored. He attended Westside Elementary and North Whitfield High School. Henry was a beloved husband, devoted father, adored grandfather, and deeply loved big brother. Henry was an over the road truck driver for 37 years and loved it. Henry was a Free Mason and was a member of Lodge #105 for 52 years. He was also a member of the Dalton Shrine Club and was a Shriner Clown. He was a volunteer for Whitfield County Fire Department for several years. He served as a Deacon of his church. He loved His Lord, his family, hunting, fishing, wrestling, westerns, live cop shows, collecting ink pens (he seriously has hundreds), and to the dismay of his wife, shopping catalogs and the home shopping channels. He absolutely loved to cut up and tell his jokes. He lost part of his thumb years ago. One of his favorite jokes was to hold it up and say, "I'm not all here anymore". On June 6th, 1965, he married the love of his life, Linda Marie Seay. In their 58 wonderful years together, they had 2 sons, Dennis and Wesley; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Henry loved his sons more than anything and was extremely proud of both of his boys. He was a devoted father who made sure his boys knew how much he loved them and taught them so many things. He absolutely adored his grandchildren. In his own words, "They make me so happy." He was the best grandpa a kid could ask for. We were so truly lucky to be blessed with him as our Papaw. In the word of Henry, "Straighten up, Fly right, and Kick 'em high". Henry leaves behind his wife, Marie Arnold; sons and daughters in law, Dennis and Darlene Arnold, Wesley and Barbara Arnold; granddaughters and spouses, Tara and James Adkins, Cyndle and Jason Pellom, Melissa and Keri Irwin, Heather and Zach Tilson; grandson and spouse, Greg and Sydney Lankford; great grandchildren, Elijah, Paityn, and Abel Adkins, Dallas Pellom, Taylor Swalley, Everett Tilson, and Kinsey Lankford; one brother, Bobby and Rachel Arnold; and three sisters, Annette and Roy Workman, Melva Smith Andrews, Celia and Steve Clark. He will be deeply missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Henry Arnold will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2022 in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with his nephew, Bro. Mark Seay officiating. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery with Dennis Arnold, Wesley Arnold, James Adkins, Elijah Adkins, Wahid Arnold, and Bobby Arnold serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Abel Adkins, Jasper Arnold, and Steve Clark. Mason rights will be read at graveside. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Dalton Funeral Home.
