Lake Eugene Armstrong, 77, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. 

Lake was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and a proud Army veteran. He shared 52 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Barbara Armstrong, and together they built a life filled with family, memories, laughter, and love. 

He is survived by his three daughters, Kellie Skyles, Connie Gowan, and Renee Hammontree (Art) and family, and his grandchildren, Avery Skyles; Blake Burns (Christie) and family; Hillary Glover (Clay) and family; and Jeremy Nix (Laura) and family. He is also survived by four brothers and one sister. His family was one of his greatest sources of joy, and the love he had for them will continue to live on through the generations. 

Lake was a proud Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs fan, but more than anything, he was known for his personality. He truly never met a stranger, and he was the kind of person that everyone considered a hero. Lake had a special gift for making people laugh, and he almost always had a joke, a story, or a quick-witted comment to share. His humor, kindness, and warm personality made people feel welcomed, comfortable, and loved in his presence. 

He was the kind of person people were naturally drawn to—the kind who lit up a room simply by being present. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be remembered not only for the laughter he brought into their lives, but for the love, kindness, and memories he leaves behind.

 Lake was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma Armstrong; his brother, Darrell Armstrong; and his sisters, Glenda Sloan, Loretta Stover, and Patricia Armstrong. 

Though his absence will leave an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, his stories, laughter, and the memories he created will live on in all who knew him.

 Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 4:00 PM from the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home Pastor Charlie Hamm officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Dalton Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 1:30 PM.
